Our Favorite Gear for a Tropical Getaway

As winter approaches, birds fly south in hopes of finding more food. People? We fly away in hopes of finding more sun. In fact, this is the perfect time of year to ditch the cold and head somewhere tropical. Snow and frost? They’ve got nothing on sand and sun.

But, before you go all “leaving on a jet plane,” there are certain things you must purchase. The following is a good start:

Hansen Surfboards

If you’re not planning on surfing, toting around a surfboard doesn’t make much sense (although it is a really good workout for your biceps). If, on the other hand, you’re planning on hanging ten, don’t forget to hangout on the Hansen website, first. Not only do they sell surfboards, but they sell all kinds of wetsuits and accessories, too.

Misty Mate

Misty Mate sells portable cooling systems (as well as those you can install in your home). If you’re heading somewhere known for hot days, a cooling system is a real sweat-saver. In addition to misters, they also sell other cooling items (like cooling towels).

Odds are you don’t want to haul your suitcase onto the beach: that’s where Yeti comes in. It’s described as “the perfect all-purpose, here-to-there bag for any and every day.” It’s waterproof, durable, and easy to clean. That’s right: suck is Samsonite.

Just Be Nice

Just Be Nice is on a mission to “leave the world better than we found it.” It describes itself as “a social movement fueled by action” and invites people to wear their hearts on the outside of their clothing. They sell short-sleeve tees, long-sleeve tees, tank tops, water bottles, and other accessories.

Sure, your favorite baseball team might have lost in the playoffs and your favorite football team might be the Cleveland Browns, but that doesn’t mean you can’t represent wherever you go. Fanatics offers all kinds of sportswear, including tees and hats. The latter is especially important when headed somewhere tropical. Paradise is glorious, but a sunburn on your face is not.

Walking in a winter wonderland is nice – and we sure do love it. However, fun in the sun offers a welcome reprieve from colder weather. Pack wisely and have an adventure you’ll always remember.
